After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, takes on a role in a play to take control of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Colin Farrell and Kristin Milioti talk about how they are doing in the underworld. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of the Penguin to smoke in the film Batman (2022), but failed.

However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional smoker who prefers cigars. The umbrella falls, and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo.

The first episode is a direct sequel to Matt Reeves’ Batman and I, and we imagine that those who haven’t seen the latter are a bit lost. But I watched Batman a while back, and this show did an admirable job of quickly picking me up where the movie left off without getting bogged down in a didactic recap. It also does a great job of recreating the film’s aesthetic and dark undertones, though the performance has a much more sly lightness than the film.
I have my doubts about the Penguin being shown as a teenager
As in Batman, Colin Farrell does a great job of portraying the Penguin as a stereotypical mob “street guy”; uncouth, rude, animalistic, and quick to violence; but also smart, cunning, and able to read people. The character may have nothing to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own right. and I don’t know if The Penguin’s scheming is enough to last a full season.
But so far, it’s off to a great start
